Fasted for 24 Hours

I’ve been wanted to do this for some time, but I’ve always talked myself out of it.  I didn’t want to do it on a day where we had any social engagements, a work-out day, a day before a big work-out, etc, etc.  But since it’s Christmas break and my work-outs are also on vacation, I decided this would be the perfect time to fast.  Originally my idea was to wake up hungry and go to bed hungry, but this seemed like pure misery to me, so I decided to start with a smaller step and just go 24 hours without food.  We had dinner last night at 7:30, so I figured if I dion’t eat until after 8pm, that would be 24 hours.

Funny thing is, this wasn’t nearly as hard as I thought it would be.  I drank coffee in the morning, and sparkling water all day.  And I was hungry all day, but not miserably hungry.  We went for a bike ride and I double rode Nadine.  We made cookies, and I didn’t even lick my fingers.  And I made dinner – a delicious broccoli and tofu curry – that we ate at around 8:30.  Mmm mmm, it was so good!

So now I’m not so scared of fasting and will definitely do it again.  I think as long as I can keep up the zero calorie beverage intake I’ll be fine.  I certainly have enough reserve to keep me going for way longer than just 24 hours.  Could I do all day?  I guess there’s only one way to find out…
