Played One-on-One Soccer with Nadine

Around here most kids start playing soccer in first grade, and stick with the same team for a few years.  Nadine, however, has always been really into gymnastics, and hasn’t expressed any interest in soccer.  Until this spring.  This spring she decided to get on a team with a couple of her other friends, who’ve been playing together since first grade.  She was totally nervous about it, but I was very excited for her to give team sports a try.  And the funny thing is, she really loves to play soccer.  She wants to kick the ball around all the time.  But she doesn’t want to play with her team so much.  I think it’s because she doesn’t get the big picture of the game just yet, and I’m not much help since I know virtually nothing about soccer.  So this morning when she asked me to go to the park with her and play soccer, I said sure.  And we had the best time.  We made up a game of one-on-one and got to use the huge goals that were set up at the park.  Not only did we have the best time, we ran our butts off and got tons of exercise.  How perfect is that?  I can’t think of a better way to work out, then spending the morning at the park playing soccer with Nadine.
