Took Two 10-Year-Old Girls Shopping

Sure, I’ve gone shopping and dragged along Nadine and a friend before, but this is not at all what we did today.  Today, after Nadine’s soccer game, I took her and a friend to Ballard to get ice cream at Full Tilt, and as we licked away at our cones, we walked around old Ballard and checked out some stores.

I thought they’d hate this, but they were super into it, and now I’m realizing that we’ve turned a major corner here.  No longer do I have a daughter who dreads shopping, I now have a daughter who loves it.  Is hanging out at the mall just around the corner?  Yipes!  But I have to say, we had a really great time.  First we went to a consignment store where we played a game called, “Guess how much!” where we picked a crazy item, like a huge lamp, and each of us how to guess how much it cost, then we looked at the tag and whoever was the closest won.  And I was terrible!  I under-priced almost every item.  Oh well…

Then it was off to another store which sold really really great consignment clothing and we all had fun trying on outfits and shoes.  Then we made our way down Ballard Ave, popping into stores and checking out cool stuff.  It was great.  And we didn’t spend any money!
