Went Mushroom Hunting without Grandma

We go mushroom hunting this time every year.  For chanterelles.  Yum!  And every year Todd’s mom, a mushroom connoisseur and long-standing member of the Puget Sound Mycology Society, has been our leader – teaching us about mushrooms, where to find them, how to pick them, and how to clean, cook, and store them.  But this year she was sick and couldn’t come.  Fortunately, she has been such a good teacher over the years that we all felt confident enough to go without her, and to pick the right kind of mushrooms.  We had a great time, but it still wasn’t the same without her.  She always has so much to show us and teach us about mushrooms.  Well, there’s always next year.
