Went to a Rock N Roll Concert at the Kids’ School

Buddy_Holly

This is our fifth year as elementary school parents, and for the past four years we have attended school musical concerts that have been slightly painful.  They were painful for a few reasons:  They were long and the kids got antsy waiting for their turns to sing, plus there’d be a bake sale at the same time, so the kids were antsy and sugared up.  They combined the singing and the instrumental which was just too much.  And, worst of all, they sang the same songs every single year.

But not this year!  This year they have a new music teacher, and she doesn’t teach ‘music’, she teaches ‘performing arts’.  The kids love her and you can tell, and the concert brought tears to my (as do any things in elementary school).  It was the best.  They sang Beatles songs, Pete Seeger songs, and Buddy Holly songs.  The dressed to the era and Nadine’s class wore Buddy Holly glasses.  They incorporated dance moves.  It was so adorable and such a great evening.  Yes indeed, change is good…
